South Oldham Little League

The amount of equipment for baseball and softball that exists out there can be overwhelming from a choice and cost perspective, especially if your child is just getting started. This guide is designed to highlight the personal equipment that your child needs to participate in Little League. Your registration fee covers the uniform. For tee ball that includes a shirt and hat, all other divisions includes a pair of pants and a belt.

Safety is always at the top of mind, especially as the players grow and the speed of the game increases. Protective equipment to consider are a protective jaw guard for helmets, shirt with built-in chest pad, and sliding shorts with a cup (for males). All players that play the position of catcher need to have a protective cup.

It is recommended to have a bag or backpack for each player that can be hung on a fence. This helps with keeping the dugouts a little less chaotic during games.

Baseball:

Tee Ball: Items that typically need to be purchased by the parent include a glove, baseball/softball pants, and cleats. Some parents may also choose to purchase a bat for their child to use. The league will supply a tee and balls located in the first base dugout.

All other divisions: The league will supply 2 sets of catchers for each field located in the closet in the first base dugout. Batting helmets may also stored there by request from a coach.

Softball:

Similar needs to baseball with the added requirement that players need to have a face mask while in the field.
